The Bishop
Bouldering
Program
Prepare for your best
Bishop season ever.
Train before the season then send during the season.
We’ve teamed up with Sage to Summit to bring you a training and coaching program to help you first prepare for your Bishop season and then send your hardest boulders once the season starts.
Two phases. One goal: Your best Bishop season ever.
A Two-Phase Program for Your Best Bishop Season
You can join either phase independently, or complete both as a complete pathway through the Bishop bouldering season.
During the Pre-Season Prep Program, we'll help you prepare for the demands of a Bishop Bouldering season using the Sage to Summit training gym.
During the In-Season Performance Program, we'll guide you through our tried and tested system for sending hard boulders in the Buttermilks and Tablelands.
Meet Your Coach
Hi, I'm Simon Moore.
I’m the founder of Vertical Ascents and I’ve been climbing in Bishop for more than 20 years and coaching climbers there for almost 15.
Over that time, I've helped climbers climb their first of every grade from V0 to V14 in the Bishop boulders.
The Bishop Bouldering Program brings together the systems I’ve developed into a structured pathway designed specifically for a Bishop season.
Phase 1: Pre-Season Prep
Build capacity and ramp up your bouldering form.
8 Weeks • $175
Start date: September 1st, 2026
The Pre-Season Prep Program is designed to prepare your fingers, body, and climbing for the demands of a Bishop season.
Over eight weeks, you'll improve finger capacity, build specificity on small crimps, tune-up your pulling and shoulder strength, and follow a structured training board progression to bring you into peak climbing form.
What you’ll do in this phase:
Finger Capacity
Small Hold Preparation
Training Board Progression
Shoulder Capacity
Pulling Strength
Dose Calibration
This phase is for you if:
You're preparing for the Bishop season.
You want to arrive strong, healthy, and climbing well.
You want a structured approach to building form before the season begins.
Phase 2: In-Season Performance
8 Weeks • $175
Send your hardest boulders.
The In-Season Performance Program is designed to help you get the most out of every session out on the boulders.
Over eight weeks, you'll learn our well-tested approach to structuring your outdoor sessions, choosing the right boulders, managing your training dose, and building momentum throughout the season.
You'll learn how to use:
The Bouldering Runway
Magic Zone Circuits
Projecting Tactics
Dose Management
Building Momentum
Injury Prevention
This program is for you if:
You want to send your hardest boulders.
You want to improve your projecting.
You want a structured approach to your outdoor sessions.
